Michelle Obama's purportedly extravagant trip to Spain has proven to be rich material for incessant debate on cable-news channels over the past week. In one of the latest such confrontations about the symbolic nature of the First Lady's trip, Fox News analyst Dana Perino took a more personal swipe at New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, saying that "It must be hard [for Dowd] to be that angry all the time about everything." Which leads the rest of the anchors to suggest that the "real story" is about Dowd instead of the topic at hand, Michelle Obama's trip.
