A reader writes re: Steyn:
I had a Xhosa friend from South Africa who came to study at Harvard's Kennedy School in the 1980s. He liked to visit nightspots to see if integration was a real thing here. He said he never ran into any problems. I said that we did have some prejudice and racism in the country, and he said, "Yes, but the point is that it is not government policy."
In the past, when atrocities occurred in wars, we could say, "Yes, but it's not government policy."
