Trailer Power Rankings: 'Mockingjay' and 'The Boy Next Door' Are Knocking on the Door
But everyone's excited for Disney's Big Hero 6 most of all.

This Week's Trailer Debuts
As the last of the Oscar hopefuls release their trailers (although we've still seen nothing of Inherent Vice), yesterday we finally got a look at Tim Burton's Big Eyes, touted as a chance for Amy Adams to collect a trophy after missing out for her previous five nominations. There was also the first real footage from Serena, a long-gestating period drama starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, which looked simultaneously fancy and gloomy.

10. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Think they're gonna bring down that dragon? Probably, since there's barely a sight of him in this trailer, which promises axes and monsters and battles, endless battles, and oh yes, very grumpy dwarfs. It also promises, maybe, to be the last Lord of the Rings movie, so there's that to dread/look forward to?
9. Gone Girl
After so much speculation over its ending and its casting and David Fincher's choice of lenses, Gone Girl is almost here! Just two more weeks! Have you read the novel yet? You better hurry up, or you won't be able to weigh in on if the movie ruined it or not!
8. 50 Shades of Grey
Meanwhile we have to keep waiting for this one until next February. Is it me, or does it feel like there isn't much buzz for 50 Shades of Grey right now? I'm sure it'll heat up soon. Heat up in the SEX ROOM.
7. Mad Max: Fury Road
Don't get this film confused with the upcoming Grumpy Cat movie, starring Aubrey Plaza as the voice of Grumpy Cat. That cat is grumpy, while Max is just plain mad. Probably has something to do with all those cars trying to crash into him.
6. Whiplash
Still one of the most effective trailers of the year in terms of setting you up for the liquid tension you're going to feel when you see this Sundance winner. The trailer's crucial, too; you might not be interested in seeing a movie about jazz drumming before, but now you know it's about a scary psycho teacher, are you interested?
5. A Most Violent Year
J.C. Chandor's latest, starring Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, is as ambitious as ever, wrestling with all the horrifying implications that came with, uh, living in 1981. This looks moody, beautifully shot, and well-acted. But I'm not sure I totally get it. Can't wait to try!
4. The Boy Next Door
I don't want to spoil this trailer's money line, but it's about Jennifer Lopez and getting wet and it's right there in the middle. This looks like a perfect piece of January insanity. Seriously, just watch it. It's beautiful.
3. Wild
Reviews are out from Toronto and Telluride, and guess what? Reese Witherspoon is BACK, baby! It's official! Now, let's start the drumbeat for Legally Blonde 3 while the iron is hot.
2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
Personally, I think this movie looks boring and grey. I'm also not looking forward to it ending in the middle of Mockingjay, which was a bit of a depressing slog. Also, it's never good when your main character is barely invested in her mission. Well, who cares what I think, this is going to open to $150 million.
1. Big Hero 6
I think Disney's hot streak will continue nicely with Big Hero 6, which looks adorable and witty and has a big blobby Michelin Man robot for us to all cheer for. He'll be the Groot of the fall! Mark my words!
