James Corden Officially Taking Over CBS' 'Late Late Show'

The British actor was heavily rumored for the role early last month, but CBS just made it official today.

It's official: James Corden is the new Craig Ferguson.

As reported by Variety, the British actor will be taking over The Late Late Show in 2015, after the departure of current host Ferguson. This was heavily rumored last month, but CBS just confirmed the change today.

CBS Entertainment chair Nina Tassler released a statement on the hiring:

James Corden is a rare entertainment force who combines irresistible charm, warmth and originality with a diverse range of creative instincts and performance talent. He is the ultimate multi-hyphenate – a writer, creator and performer who is loved and respected in every medium he touches, including theater, comedy, music, film and television. James is already a big star in the UK and he’s wowed American audiences on Broadway; we’re very excited to introduce his considerable and very unique talents to our network television audience on a daily basis.”

Ferguson announced he'd be leaving shortly after Stephen Colbert was named David Letterman's replacement for The Late Show. Corden was most recently seen in the Keira Knightley vehicle Begin Again, and will be seen again this winter in Into the Woods.

“I can’t describe how thrilled and honoured I am to be taking over from the brilliant Craig Ferguson,” Corden said in a statement, complete with very British extra 'u.' "I can’t wait to get started, and will do my very best to make a show America will enjoy.”
