Alicia Florrick Weighs Running for State’s Attorney in the First ‘Good Wife’ Season 6 Promo

Will Florrick/Agos merge back into Lockhart/Gardner? Will Alicia run for public office? The Good Wife's season six premiere is less than three weeks away!

What show are you most anticipating the return of this fall? If your answer was not The Good Wife, please call back and try again! The show's barnstorming fifth season saw Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) and Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry) breaking away from their original firm of Lockhart/Gardner and struggling to stay afloat on their own, then wrestling with the shocking death of Will Gardner mid-season. Then, the eyebrow-raising cliffhanger: Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) posing the question of a run for Chicago State’s Attorney to Alicia.

The first promo for season six shows Alicia wrestling with that decision, but moving aggressively forward on a different one.

So much to unpack. The long-mulled merger of Florrick/Agos back into the Lockhart fold (now that Diane is gunning to be solely in charge and looking to expand) seems to be official, perhaps over Cary’s objections. The question of Alicia running for office remains an open one – but c’mon, you know she’s gonna do it. Every season of The Good Wife has a juicy political storyline, and finally throwing Alicia to the forefront of public life will do nicely for season six as it seeks to improve on last year’s pretty-much-perfect arc.

The Good Wife starts on Sunday September 21st at 9 p.m., and no matter how busy Sunday nights get, it’ll always be my first viewing choice for that hour. Just two and a half more weeks to go!
