Blame the Internet: Grumpy Cat is getting a Lifetime Christmas movie. Yes, this the meme cat will star in Grumpy Cat's Worst Christmas Ever, joining the ranks of illustrious Lifetime Christmas movie stars before her like Mira Sorvino and Dean Cain.
The movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter's Natalie Jarvey, is about a pet store dwelling cat who is ignored, but can communicate with a 12-year-old girl. Lifetime's Vice President of Original Movies Arturo Interian described the project as "a little Home Alone and a little Die Hard," officially insulting fans of both those beloved Christmas classics. Interian aso promises that other memes will show up and noted that that the movie will allow the oft-lampooned Lifetime a chance to take itself less seriously. "We're so known for our heartfelt sentimentality that it will poke fun at those stereotypes," he said.
The network still has to cast the voice of the cat, really named Tardar Sauce. We'd like to think that Grumpy Cat, considering she's a girl, sounds something like Bea Arthur, so the closest you can get to that is the way to go, Lifetime.
