Jon Stewart Evaluates Obama's Plan to Combat ISIS

As Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants continue to expand control in Iraq, the United States is scrambling to figure out what to do. So on last night's episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart took some time to see how the president's plan measures up.

On last night's episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart took some time to see how the president's plan measures up.

First, Stewart explained the situation: "A group of Sunni Islamist militants have formed a nascent start-up looking to gain market share in Iraq. The group is called ISIS, not to be confused with their early '90s incarnation, Vanilla ISIS."

As ISIS expands, it has taken control of border areas, infrastructure, and even begun directing traffic.

"As you know, for quite a few years, the flow of Iraqi traffic was our job," Stewart said. "And if you think we're just going to sit here and let Islamist radicals recalibrate the walk/don't walk signs, well listen up mister."

The president's original plan: deploy 275 U.S. troops to protect the embassy in Baghdad.

"275 troops?" Stewart asked. "No. There is an effective number of troops to fight an invading force in that part of the world, but it ain't 275."

On Thursday, Obama updated his plan, adding that he'd be sending up to 300 military advisors to aid Iraq.

"That's what I'm talking about!" Stewart said. "300 is the exact number of troops, not one less, not one more ... 300, we have arrived!"

Not even Dick Cheney's naysaying can stop us now, right?
