Game of Thrones wrapped up its fourth season Sunday night with an hour full of intra-familial demise, medieval transfusions, leafy immortal children, Stannis Baratheon riding into town like a total boss, at least one passionate case made for the purity of incest, and a battle scene full of relentless skeleton warriors, as depicted to the right.
Now that the season is over and we're left with nine months of hand-wringing about events that half of us know are coming and the other half of us can pretty much guess are coming because the first half is not at all as cryptic as they think they are, it's time to take stock of the season as a whole, through the lens of facts and figures.
Total Body Count (all characters of note who bit it this season): 9
Deceased Who Were Murdered: 5 (Joffrey Baratheon, Dontos the fool, Lysa Arryn, Shae, Tywin Lannister)
Deceased Who Were Killed on the Field of Battle: 2 (Ygritte; Locke)
Deceased Who Were Killed as Part of the Shockingly Brutal Westerosi Judicial System: 1 (Oberyn Martell)
Deceased Who Were Killed by Monsters: 1 (Jojen Reed; though I guess Oberyn qualifies here too, if you count The Mountain as a monster, which you should)
Doesn't Officially Count but Will Probably Be Deceased Very Soon: 1 (Sandor "The Hound" Clegane)
Characters Who Were Imprisoned: 4 (Tyrion Lannister, Tormund Giantsbane; Danaerys's dragons Rhaegal and Viserion)
Characters Who Were Tried for Murder: 2 (Tyrion Lannister, Petyr Baelish)
Characters Who Were Convicted of Murder: 1 (Tyrion)
Characters Who Are Currently on the Lam: 2 (Tyrion, Danaerys's dragon Drogon)
Characters Who Were Banished: 1 (Jorah Mormont)
