Colin Firth revealed himself to be a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow when announcing that he would no longer voice the titular bear in the upcoming movie Paddington. "After a period of denial we've chosen 'conscious uncoupling,'" Firth said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "I've had the joy of seeing most of the film and it's going to be quite wonderful. I still feel rather protective of this bear and I'm pestering them all with suggestions for finding a voice worthy of him." Firth, of course, is referencing the manner in which Paltrow announced her split to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. Except he's talking about a cartoon bear.
Though Firth and director Paul King are playing it cool with their Gwyneth jokes, this is ultimately not a great sign for the movie due out on Christmas. To make matters worse, a recently released film still from the movie made Paddington look distinctly creepy. There is a silver lining, though perhaps this will end up like Her in which Samantha Morton was replaced by Scarlett Johansson, and everyone ended up loving the movie anyway. That movie, however, was not about a cartoon bear.
