AMC Gives 'Better Call Saul' A Second Season Before It Even Airs an Episode

AMC obviously has a lot of faith in its Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul: the network ordered a second season of the show, before even airing the first season. According to the Hollywood Reporter's Philiana Ng, the premiere of the show has also been pushed from November of 2014 to sometime the following year.
The move comes at an uncertain time for the cable network, which needs to find another bona fide hit—whether in the ratings or among critics. After having said farewell to Breaking Bad last year, the network is on the brink of losing Mad Men, and both Halt and Catch Fire and Turn have received lukewarm response across the board.
So the network is throwing some amount of faith behind Better Call Saul, which will have a 10 episode first season and a 13 episode second season. Recently, Netflix renewed Orange Is the New Black for a second season before the beginning of the first.
