Man Proposes Having Only Received 257 Sandwiches
Eric Schulte, a necklace-wearing Carson Kressley lookalike who's hungry all the time for some reason, proposed to his girlfriend, Stephanie Smith, this weekend. She had promised to make him 300 sandwiches in exchange for a ring, but she had only made him 257 at the time of the proposal.
Eric Schulte, a necklace-wearing Carson Kressley lookalike who's hungry all the time for some reason, proposed to his girlfriend, Stephanie Smith, this weekend. She had promised to make him 300 sandwiches in exchange for a ring, but she was only up to 257 by the time of the proposal. True love: it exists.
Schulte and Smith have been heavily featured in the New York Post throughout their strange sandwich mating process. Schulte has reveled in his title as "the Internet’s worst boyfriend." Smith made her sandwich quest into a nice-looking blog. She explained back in September how the 300-sandwich plot (to land a book deal) came about:
Each morning, he would ask, "Honey, how long you have been awake?"
"About 15 minutes," I’d reply.
"You’ve been up for 15 minutes and you haven’t made me a sandwich?"
To him, sandwiches are like kisses or hugs. Or sex. "Sandwiches are love," he says. "Especially when you make them. You can’t get a sandwich with love from the deli."
So she made him a bunch of sandwiches. And she wrote a blog post about the proposal on Tuesday:
Schulte shared the news with the hashtag #greatestproposaleve [sic]. Best wishes!
