Back in August the long-in-the-works James Brown biopic finally got underway. Now, we have the first trailer for the movie from The Help director Tate Taylor.
The movie stars Chadwick Boseman, who is making his name playing historical figures. He broke out in last year's 42 playing Jackie Robinson. The movie, in standard biopic fashion, looks to trace Brown's life from his impoverished childhood to his stint in prison for armed robbery to stardom. Taylor has cast some of the veterans from The Help like Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis as figures in Brown's life. Dan Aykroyd has followed up his role playing Liberace's manager in Behind the Candelabra by playing the president of Brown's agency.
Spike Lee had been attached to the project, which had been in the works since the 90s. Taylor was brought in along with producer Mick Jagger in 2012.
