The Wachowskis are back with another gigantic sci-fi epic, this timed called Jupiter Ascending. Here is the first full trailer.

Like most Wachowski sci-fi films, this one seems tough to sum up in a trailer, but I’ll give it a shot: Jupiter Ascending stars Mila Kunis as a janitor named Jupiter Jones, who is rescued by a space elf(?) played by Channing Tatum. Because she can control bees(???), Sean Bean realizes that she is Space Royalty and the true ruler of Earth. However, Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) currently owns Earth and does not want Jupiter to ascend (get it? the title??) to the rule the planet. Making things even more confusing, the planet Jupiter also appears, and making things even more baffling than that: space gargoyles.

All of this looks very promising! That was also true of the extra-length trailer for Wachowskis’ last film, Cloud Atlas — a film commendable for its creative and fiscal ambition that, unfortunately, didn’t quite stick the landing (that trailer is still perfect though). Hopefully, Jupiter Ascending fares better.
