'Fargo' Trailer: Crime and You Betchas
FX has already been doing great, moody teasers for their Fargo series. The latest trailer actually introduces us to the cast of characters inhabiting this frozen wasteland.
FX has been doing great, moody teasers for their Fargo series. The latest trailer actually introduces us to the cast of characters inhabiting this frozen wasteland.
As we've explained before FX's Fargo has the Coen brothers' blessing and exists to an extent in the world they imagined for their 1996 film. In the new trailer you can see the parallels between the show and the film. It opens on Martin Freeman's Lester Nygaard, a schmuck of a character that bears resemblances to William H. Macy's Jerry Lundegaard from the film, meeting Billy Bob Thornton's shady hit man Lorne Malvo. Nygaard's fateful meeting with Malvo predictably—especially if you've seen the film—ushers him into a seedy world of crime thinly veiled by all that midwestern niceness.
That niceness is there, too. We've got an earnest cop—not unlike Fran McDormand's Marge Gunderson—played here by Allison Tolman, and townspeople who gossip all they want until they fear they are spreading "rumors." Also of note: Kate Walsh's singing widow and Bob Odenkirk's easily sickened cop. Sign us up.
