Well, this is odd: Pink (Pink!) will be performing at the Oscars. Why? Beats us.

Now, Bette Midler, even though she has never performed on the Oscar telecast before, makes sense. She's an old showbiz type, the type that the Oscars love. She's been nominated for Best Actress twice, after all, lest we forget The Rose and For the Boys.  But Pink? The Academy announced today that the singer will make a "special appearance" at the ceremony next weekend. Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement she will "join us for a highly anticipated moment on the broadcast."

What could that highly anticipated moment be? We have some ideas:

  • Aerial interpretive dance numbers representing each of the nominees for best picture.
  • A rendition of "Get The Party Started" during the opening monologue, as Ellen mom-dances down the aisles.
  • Presenting a scene from her sex addiction movie Thanks for Sharing
  • A tribute to the music of Baz Lurhmann movies, featuring a reunion performance of the Moulin Rouge version of "Lady Marmalade."

Take your guesses!
