The brand new trailer for the teen romance weepie The Fault in Our Stars has been jerking tears all afternoon. But if the rhythms of the trailer, the music, even the shot selection seem familiar to you, there's a reason.

If you take a look at the trailer for last year's successful, well-regarded, based-on-a-wildly-popular-among-the-youngs novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the similarities become pretty apparent. Most obviously, both make use of the Radical Face song "We're On Our Way" at the beginning, before giving way to more anthemic pop (Imagine Dragons' "It's Time" in Perks; One Republic's "What You Wanted" in The Fault in Our Stars).

It makes sense. Two movies going for the same audience. Go with what works. If you want to look at both trailers playing simultaneously, side-by-side, we mashed them up for you right here.
