Just how many superheroes are going to appear in Warner Bros. Man of Steel sequel already featuring both Batman and Superman? The rumor mill is churning with talk of Wonder Woman making some sort of appearance.
The question of whether Wonder Woman will be involved in the film has been up in the air for a while now, but it gained particular steam last night when Justin Kroll of Variety reported that three actresses—Gal Gadot, Elodie Young, and Olga Kurylenko—were testing for a role that "appears to be the role of Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman." Kroll's story is full of caveats, including the fact that "sources stress there’s still a possibility this role could be Bruce Wayne’s love interest," but it fanned the flames of an already growing fire. It should be noted that Kurylenko starred opposite Batman—you know, Ben Affleck—in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder.
The rumors have been around for a while, and back in October, Warner Bros.' Greg Silverman carefully dodged the question when Variety's Claudia Eller asked if Wonder Woman would make an appearance, saying, that "everything that has been speculated are things that we’ve thought about." Even more recently, on the Thor sequel's press tour this past weekend, Jaimie Alexander raised eyebrows when she revealed that she "kind of knows the story line" for Batman vs. Superman. And this week, the site Schmoes Knows cited a source saying that Kurylenko was up for the part.
