'Mad Men' Creator Matthew Weiner Is Just as Pissed as We Are About Splitting Final Season

We were frustrated to hear that Mad Men's final season was going to be split in two this week. It doesn't sound like creator Matthew Weiner was too thrilled about it either. He told The Hollywood Reporter's Rebecca Ford, "It's a strategy from the network and I was told about it." Clearly, this was not his idea. Weiner has famously sparred with the network, so much so that AMC actually was prepared to go forward on the show without him at one point. Weiner's being cordial in this situation, telling Ford: "I found a way to work with it. That's all I can say. I think it's an opportunity." Hm. Seems chilly. (PS: That is Mad Men actress Kiernan Shipka with him. Look how she's grown!)

He also added that he's not into the idea of a Mad Men spinoff, despite the fact that AMC seems to love the idea of them. "No judgment against anybody else -- but this is it," he said. "This is the story. When it's done, it's done." Really, Weiner? No judgment. (We see you judging.)
