The Wrap's Jeff Sneider reports that Emily Ratajkowski , best known as one of the girls prancing around Thicke, Pharrell, and T.I. in the controversial video, has been cast in a crucial role in David Fincher's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's best seller Gone Girl.
Ratajkowski (a plight to copy editors everywhere) will play—stop reading now if you have a fear of spoilers—the young mistress of Ben Affleck's character Nick Dunne. In the book, the revelation that he's having an affair comes as a surprise, and complicates the investigation into his wife's disappearance. It's a fairly challenging part for an untested actress, but perhaps Fincher's background in music videos means we should trust his judgment in this case. Fincher, meanwhile, has assembled a particularly wacky cast for this high profile movie. Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry will both make appearances.
Plus, it's not like no one has ever risen above music video fame—(See: Alicia Silverstone and Courteney Cox, as particularly notable examples)—and we will get to see Ratajkowski's acting chops fairly soon, in next week's episode of New Girl. Is it in her contract that she'll only star in projects with "girl" in the title?
