The speculation turns out to be true: Alec Baldwin is getting an MSNBC show at 10 p.m. on Fridays, called Up Late with Alec Baldwin. Because if you're home on a Friday watching MSNBC, you must have a really early bedtime.

The network announced the celebrity addition to the channel's lineup today, MSNBC President Phil Griffin saying of the hire, "He's got such passion for ideas and what's going on in the world -  he's going to be a great addition to our line-up."

Up Late, which is described as a "current events and culture talk show," will debut in October. Baldwin explained that the show will be "similar" to his WNYC podcast Here's The Thing, where he's conducted entertaining interviews with a variety of subjects ranging from Jill Abramson to Lena Dunham.

Of course, Baldwin's famously volatile temper will also be something to watch for. Just last week he got into an altercation with a photographer, which is just the latest of many run-ins he's had with the press. Of which he is now a member. Sort of.
