Rich Kids of Instagram Are Obviously Getting a Reality Show

The Rich Kids of Instagram Tumblr embodied everything that is wrong with Instagram when it started over a year ago, and now E! has recruited some of the model citizens featured to star in a reality show because of course these kids would want to star in a reality show.
Nellie Andreeva of Deadline reports that E! is developing Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, which is described as "a new unscripted series that revolves around a group of 20-something friends living in a world of extreme wealth who caught notice on Instagram." What makes these kids different from the other young things that have graced our small screens with their obnoxious ways? Well, they use Instagram, and they don't seem to be representative of a particular ethnic stereotype.
While of course Beverly Hills has often been synonymous with young people and wealth (see: Beverly Hills, 90210 and Clueless), it's also appropriate that this news comes today as people celebrate the 10th anniversary of The O.C., a fictional drama that spawned reality shows like Laguna Beach.
What makes this new show different than the other innumerable reality shows about attractive young people living lives of privilege and doing stupid things? Maybe it'll be an experimental and artistic marvel, shot entirely in an Instagram filter. Which Instagram filter? Valencia, right? It's gotta be Valencia.
Update: While Andreeva reported that "some of the young people, who achieved Internet notoriety by showcasing their lavish, over the top lifestyles on the Rich Kids Of Instagram Tumblr blog" are going to the show, a representative of the Tumblr emailed to say they are "not associated with this."
