It's hard to tell what we're getting from Ridley Scott's The Counselor, and the new trailer out today does nothing to clear that up. The script is from Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy, but the dialogue seems rather staid, in a kind of this-is-how-movie-people-talk way. "I have something to discuss with you, but I'm a bit scared," Michael Fassbender's lawyer character tells a demure-looking Penelope Cruz. The movie looks stunning, but in a garish, self-conscious way, and the movie stars seem to be having a grand old-time over-acting to their hearts' contents.

Do we need to say more than these two words? Cameron. Diaz. Just watch her in this trailer, with her metallic nails and raccoon eyes, telling Cruz with a heavy dose of Real Housewives bitchery: "You should be careful what you wish for, angel." Like, what? (Also, it's probably necessary to mention that Javier Bardem has some strange hair here. But this is not news for anyone who has been following Javier Bardem's career.)

There are also cars, polo ponies, gun fights, and cheetahs. Or one cheetah. Who knows?
