Today in celebrity news: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth might still be a thing, Jake Gyllenhaal traded in for a new model, and Madonna monitors a makeout session.

Just before her kooky new video was released, former teen Miley Cyrus was spotted out with her supposed fiancé, actor Liam Hemsworth. I say supposed because it was the first time the two have been seen together in five months, leading many to speculate that they'd parted ways. But Cyrus wore her engagement ring as the pair enjoyed a night out on Monday, going to see a movie at the ArcLight in Hollywood. So does this mean that everything is OK? They have not split up, though so many said that they did? I suppose it's possible that a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old, both children born in the 1990s, might have sort of a complicated, quickly changing and evolving relationship, volatile as young love is, and that maybe trying suss out the status of their relationship every time we see them together is a waste of time, but, come on, I doubt that's what's going on. This latest sighting means something definitive. We just need to figure out what that is. [Us Weekly]

Speaking of love, it seems that Jake Gyllenhaal has a new lady in his life. He was dating Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Emily DiDonato. But that got old. He needed something new, something fresh and exciting. Something different. So now he's dating Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Alyssa Miller. Look, I'm sure they're entirely different in personality, in their interests, in their backgrounds and experiences. But when work comes up, they're pretty much saying the same thing. Miller is 23 and DiDonato is 22, so maybe Gyllenhaal, 32, wanted to date someone a little more mature. Whatever the reason, I'm glad he's happy. He and Miller was supposedly seen having lunch at The Dutch together and then making out at some kind of coffee shop. Sounds fun. Enjoy it, you two crazy kids. [Page Six]

While on the topic of making out, we must discuss this strange item. On Tuesday night there was a party held by the Cinema Society celebrating the new Madonna documentary Madonna: The MDNA Tour. Madonna was there, of course, as were two of her children, Rocco and Lourdes. And, y'see, Lourdes brought her boyfriend, young actor Timothee Chalamet. The weird part is that supposedly the two teens were makin' out like crazy, sort of in front of Madonna, and she didn't do anything. Not a thing! Can you imagine that? Madonna, of all people, not being a scold when it comes to teens having fun? It's truly shocking. Though I am, sincerely, a little surprised that two teens would feel comfortable making out in front of one of their moms. But, these are showbiz kids. They have different ways. Meanwhile, Madonna was busy talking to a reporter about her son Rocco, saying "In one year, he has grown. He's six feet tall. His voice has deepened and I'm a bit scared of him." So I think that your mom publicly talking about you going through puberty is probably a bit more embarrassing than kissing your boyfriend in front of her. Right? I'd say right. [Us Weekly]

How will we first hear the news of the Royal Child, son or daughter of future King William and his party supply bride Kate? Well, it's a simple process really. What will happen is this: Once the baby is born, "an aide leaves the hospital carrying a piece of paper with details of the baby’s sex, weight and time of birth, which they will hand to a driver to be taken to Buckingham Palace. The notice will then be placed on an easel on the forecourt of the Palace for the waiting world to be given its first information about the future king or queen." Oh OK. That's it? That's so simple. Just a detailed piece of paper given to a driver to put on an easel at the palace. No muss, no fuss. So much easier than, say, tweeting it. Oh man, wouldn't it be great if they just tweeted that news out? With hashtags and all that rubbish? It would be very fun. But instead they're doing the ol' easel routine, which makes complete sense, of course. This thing is happening soon, so we should probably start placing bets. What do you think, boy or girl? I'm going with boy. I don't know. I can just feel it. Something about this pregnancy says future entitled lordling swaggering around Balliol. Y'know, tie loosened rakishly, hair elegantly mussed. Heading to Poptarts on a Tuesday night. Oh yeah. I said it. It could happen. This is the future we're talking about. It's a whole new world. But first, the easel. Always the easel. Tee hee heeeee. Matt Lauer was on Howard Stern's show recently and at one point in the interview he called his old Today Show coanchor Katie Couric "a very attractive woman." OOoOOOooo. Don't you wish we still heard that sound these days? You know, the audience "ooOoOooo" when a character would say something romantic or kiss someone on a sitcom. OooooOOo. I guess maybe it happens on the few multicamera shows left — do they OooOOooo on Big Bang? — but we used to hear it a lot more frequently. I miss that sound. If that sound still existed, it would have played when Matt Lauer said that about Katie Couric. Even though that was not a sitcom. It was a real person on a radio show. Still. We would have heard that sound. A long and lingering OoooOoooOOo, echoing through the night. Or day. I guess Howard Stern is on during the day, isn't it. [Us Weekly]
