Will FX's New 'Tyrant' Be the 'Homeland' Sequel We've Been Dreaming of?

If the penultimate episode of the second season of Homeland has gotten you down, fear not: The people behind that totally thrilling and now sometimes disappointing show are teaming up again.  Homeland creators Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff have sold a drama to FX called Tyrant about Americans in the Middle East, Lacey Rose of the Hollywood Reporter reports. Raff was behind the Israeli show that inspired Homeland, Hatufim. Craig Wright, whose credits include Lost and Six Feet Under, is also involved.

James Hibberd at Entertainment Weekly elaborates: "The show follows a family that gets drawn into turbulent Middle East politics when the dictator of an Arab state dies and his American son becomes the new head of the country." We're obviously in similar territory to Homeland, and we hope this new venture can capture some of its predecessor's season one magic.

Rose also notes that Gordon and Alex Gansa, also of Homeland, are working on a show for CBS about a female FBI agent. Carrie Mathison 2.0? Sounds about right.
