Legendary film critic Roger Ebert took to social media today to explain that health problems are preventing him from writing on the Internet.

Let's keep things in perspective here: Ebert is no stranger to sickness, and he has a tendency to keep his many followers up to date on his every thought, around the clock. In 2010 Chris Jones profiled the writer in Esquire after Ebert lost his lower jaw, along with his ability to speak, eat or drink due to treatment for cancer. Jones wrote about how important online writing had become to Ebert: "It has become his life's work, building and maintaining this massive monument to written debate — argument is encouraged, so long as it's civil — and he spends several hours each night reclined in his chair, tending to his online oasis by lamplight."
