We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the videos that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention. Today:

Sean Astin was in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but he isn't in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Or is he? Nope. But he was in The Goonies, and here's a mashup of The Hobbit trailer with Goonies footage. It works perfectly, even though it is a little weird that one of the bad guys in the Goonies has the voice of Gandalf.

Who's that girl? It's not Jess, as the theme from New Girl would have you believe. It's Muriel Rosenberg in Old Girl. Her wacky hijinks are kept to a minimum, but she really loves Murder, She Wrote.

Since we're pretty sure Angus T. Jones' anti-Two and a Half Men rant will bring more viewers to the sitcom than fewer Rainn Wilson and Craig Robinson have jumped on the trashing-your-own-show bandwagon.

When Portlandia meets a local news interview the result is TMI.

And while we're on the subject of news reports, here's a Univision weather report. Just watch out for the tail.
