By now you've seen those slow motion videos of bullets blowing stuff up. They're artistic and a cool testament to technology--so it's no wonder why they've caught on. But BMW takes it to another level by turning their M5 into a high-speed bullet and crashing it into a glass apple. "High Performance Art" they say, and we agree:

Cool science alert. This is the sixth flight of Gamera II, a human-powered helicopter from the University of Maryland. Though it only flies for about 40 seconds, it's 40 seconds of "Awesome, mom can I get one?"

Proud Mary Michael. Gawker's Rich Juzwiak  witnessed this awesome performance of "Proud Mary." He writes, "I watched this happen live with my own eyes (at the wedding of my friends Lauren and Bennett Olson). The crowd loved it. Especially the straight guys."  We love it too, and think it's the perfect way to start your weekend:
