Obama Skips Reese Witherspoon's House; Tyler Perry's Studio Burns

George Clooney and Jeffrey Katzenberg are putting on a big, fancy Hollywood fundraiser for President Obama later this month at Clooney's home, much to the chagrin of Reese Witherspoon, who apparently really wanted to host the shindig. Sources say Witherspoon "has been looking for ways to get more involved in Obama’s re-election effort" and organizers "took a look at [her] Brentwood home" before deciding casa de Clooney was "a better fit." Oh, good: it seems there will be no sniping about who gets top billing when Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias embark on their upcoming tour. Being the headliner was a big deal to Iglesias as recently as last summer, when he supposedly "bailed on the Britney Spears concert tour because she was getting top billing." That won't be a problem this time, since sources say the new tour will be a "co-headliner show," a totally made-up format that apparently means "equal production value, money and time spent on both Jennifer and Enrique." As for the opening number, an Anschutz Entertainment Group rep says the plan right now is to "have the two singers flip flop, with Jennifer going first one night and Enrique going first the next." That seems fair, but we're sure someone connected to one of the singers will find fault with the "co-headliner" model eventually. [TMZ]

In a classic good news/bad news situation, police have recovered platinum-tipped appetizer pusher Guy Fieri's canary yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, which police believe was stolen last March in San Francisco "by a thief who rappelled into the showroom of a luxury car dealership, broke a garage lock and sped away." That's the good news. The bad news is that the car turned up in a shipping contained in Richmond, California, along with a motorcycle and a gun police believe were used in an April 13 shooting where "a black-clad, motorcycle-riding gunman opened fire on two people in a car" before speeding. There were no serious injuries, but Fieri probably shouldn't expect to get his ostentatious ride back anytime soon. [New York Daily News]

It seems that Amy Sacco (the New York "club doyenne") and JD Samson (the "feminist punk pioneer") had a distasteful encounter Monday at Double Seven in New York's Meatpacking District. It started when Sacco said something about Samson that was either "condescending" or just "an innocent comment," depending on which sources you want to believe. Samson heard the remark, got mad, and called Sacco "Grandma." So what did Sacco say? Unclear. Page Six notes Samson tweeted yesterday about being "[g]ay bashed at my own DJ night," though the tweet has apparently since been deleted. Page Six makes it clear "witnesses insisted Sacco did not make any anti-gay comments," which is still never a good thing for witnesses to have to insist on. [Page Six]

A four-alarm fire broke out at Tyler Perry's Atlanta studio last night and it took "over 100 firefighters, 13 engines and 12 trucks" to get the blaze under control. Per Captain Jolyon Bundrige, no injuries have been reported. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze. It's unknown how this will impact the production schedules of Tyler Perry's many, many shows. [Company Town]

Six week after her abrupt departure as Barneys' fashion director, Amanda Brooks has returned to her blog, I Love Your Style, to announce that's going to be taking a year-long "creative sabbatical" on a family farm in "Oxfordshire, England." (Not to be confused with Oxfordshire, Cuba.) The scuttlebutt immediately following her exit in March was that Brooks had her eye on the top editor job at UK Harper’s Bazaar editor job, which had just been vacated by Lucy Yeomans.  [WWD]

Word is that Life & Style editor-in-chief Dan Wakeford will be named the new editor-in-chief at In Touch. He'll continue editing Life & Style.which is something you can do when you go to work for your magazine's sister publication. People senior writer Alexis Chieu is also reportedly joining In Touch as executive editor. [WWD]
