The Hunger Games made $68.25 million in its first day out, Nikke Finke reports, $19.75 million of which was from its midnight screening alone. That is a record for a midnight opening of a non-sequel movie, and Box Office Mojo notes it's nearly three times the $7 million earned at the first Twilight screening. The movie looks to be on track to earn $140 million by weekend's end, which would make the the biggest non-sequel opening weekend ever, the biggest March opening ever, and the fifth-biggest opening in history.
