Future World Bank Head Is a Lovely Singer; A 'Mad Men' Refresher

We realize there's only so much time one can spend in a day watching new trailers, viral video clips, and shaky cell phone footage of people arguing on live television. This is why every day The Atlantic Wire highlights the videos that truly earn your five minutes (or less) of attention. Today: the president's nominee to lead the World Bank has undeniable stage presence, Mad Men in seven minutes, and a senseless Hollywood flour-bombing. 

Along with maybe being the next head of the World Bank, Dartmouth President Jim Yong Kim is also quite a lovely singer. He showed this last year at the winter talent show of the Ivy League's most New Hampshire-y member school, belting out segments of the Dirty Dancing theme and the Black Eyed Peas' "Dirty Bit." And he was good. And, again, he's probably going to be the next head of the World Bank. [Dartmouth]

It turns out that Jarno Smeets, the guy who made the world's more gullible types (and us) believe that he took flight with a pair of homemade wings, made the whole thing up. Now, we're on-the-record opposing glitter bombing, because it is dumb and childish and tough to clean up. Flour-throwing, on the other hand, which is what an unidentified lady did to Kim Kardashian at a launch event for her new perfume, is kind of a delight. (But also wrong, because of society.) Still, if you had to throw something at someone, there's no muss, no gritty flakes to get caught in the eye: just a fine coating of flour on somebody who really should try and be a better sport about such things.
