Justin Bieber Denies Being a Dad; Zooey Deschanel Is Single

  • Justin Bieber's lawyers are pushing back hard against allegations the tween heartthrob impregnated a fan during a backstage canoodling session at after a concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles concerts last October. A Bieber representative said in a statement to Radar: "While we haven't yet seen the lawsuit, it's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims," adding that Team Bieber would be pursuing "all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations." Star magazine first reported that 20 year-old Mariah Yeater filed a paternity suit against Bieber, claiming he's the father of her three-month-old son. According to Yeater's affadavit, sworn to under penalty of perjury Bieber engaged her in conversation after his October 25 show last year. Per Yeater, "it was obvious that we were mutually attracted to one another, and we began to kiss." She says the singer then suggested they go to "a private place where we could be alone," which in this case turned out to be a bathroom. In case the details so far have lacked for sadness and grime, Yeater notes Bieber "told me he wanted to make love to me and this was going to be his first time." She says his demeanor "changed drastically" once they were alone. Yeater says e began using bad language, then refused to use a prophylactic because "In his own words, he said that because it was his first time he wanted to feel everything." Yeater tells Star wants Bieber to take a paternity test in order to "to scientifically confirm" (or not confirm) whether he's the father of her son, and "provide adequate support for my baby" if he is. At the time of the alleged encounter, Bieber was 17 and Yeater was 19, which means he was underage according to California state law. [TMZ and Radar]
  • Eleven GOP senators "spent the better part of two hours breaking bread" with Herman Cain last night at D.C. steakhouse Bobby Van's. Among those in attendance: Idaho's James Risch, who has already endorsed Mitt Romney, Ohio's Rob Portman, a former White House budget director under President George W. Bush. Lamar Alexander, Kelly Ayotte, Richard Burr, Saxby Chambliss, Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Lindsey Graham, John Hoeven, and Ron Johnson rounded out the field.   • Australian chef Lara Mitchell used to cook for some of Scientology's biggest names when they visited the church's sprawling headquarters in the California desert, but she says was blacklisted by the church in 2004 after Tom Cruise "apparently ate a prawn that was off" and got food poisoning. Mitchell, who at the time had been a Scientologist for 15 years, says she got the blame because she was the one who had "taken [the prawn] out of the freezer and defrosted it under water." Her punishment entailed being "offloaded" from the property and not being allowed to see her husband and sentenced to "hard labor."   • The hacked nude photos of Scarlett Johansson that popped up online last month were intended for ex-husband Ryan Reynolds, the actress tells Vanity Fair. "I know my best angles," she joked.   • It's widely expected that Lindsay Lohan will be sent back to Los Angeles county jail for the fourth time after a court hearing today about her newest probation violation. Lohan's reportedly hoping to get off with just serving two weeks, even though she could face a maximum sentence of a year-and-a-half. TMZ reports that ""whatever sentence Lindsay gets, the Sheriff's Dept. tells us Lindsay will serve only 20%" and that the decision has already been made not to put her in with jail's general population because of security concerns.   • "Renowned Boston-based throat surgeon" Dr. Steven Zeitels is treating singer Adele for her hemorrhaged vocal cord and will be performing surgery to fix the damage. Zeitels something of a vocal cord doctor to the stars, having performed similar procedures on Steven Tyler and Julie Andrews. [The Boston Globe]
  • Monaco's Princess Charlene did not try to flee for the airport during a lunch yesterday for the Princess Grace Foundation in New York. Instead, she was "serene-looking" and an observer said she and husband Prince Albert "seemed relaxed together but you couldn’t see any sparks flying." Considering she reportedly had to have her passport confiscated to keep her from flying home to South Africa to avoid marrying the man over the summer, that counts as progress. [Page Six]
