  • Depending on your perspective, Representative Charlie Rangel of New York crashed or merely attended Texas governor Rick Perry's meeting with Hispanic business leaders in Harlem yesterday. According to the New York Observer, when a black-tinted limo pulled up outside Papasito reastuarant the "camera-laden frenzy of reporters expected it to be Perry." Instead, it was Rangel, visiting his home district. “I guess I’m here for the same reason all of you are here,” said Rangel. “Figuring out why he’s here.” He entered the restaurant and was followed five minutes later by Perry. Rangel emerged after 15 minutes. "I don't know how he's going to conclude," he told reporters, "But I got out of there before he asked me for any money."   [The New York Observer
  • John Travolta's 1970 Mercedes Benz 280-SL is missing. It was last seen after the after parked it on a residential street in Santa Monica and "stopped in at a nearby Jaguar dealership for about 10 minutes." When he returned, it was gone. The Los Angeles Times hears the car is worth "at least $35,000," and maybe two or three times that amount it it's in good shape and sold at an online auction. [Los Angeles Times]
  • Recently fired Real Housewives of New York star Alex McCord and husband Simon van Kempen supposedly "begged Bravo to renew McCord’s contract at 50 percent off her $275,000 fee" rather than letting her go. Not true says van Kempen, a statement seconded by a Bravo representative. "Once we had a no, it was no," he said. "That would’ve just perpetuated the perception we are the wannabes they made us out to be.” Apparently the couple is now much more focused on launching "a line of Egyptian-cotton towels and bedding, called Aluxe" for textiles market week. Real housewives.   • Actor Vince Vaughn introduced Ron Paul at the Liberty Political Action Conference in Reno on Friday, announcing that the longshot GOP White House hopeful is a candidate who will not "waver based on polls or public opinion." Vaughn said he was "impressed" by Paul's attacks on the Federal Reserve, adding, "We are all very lucky to have a voice like his out there." [Variety
  • Mick Jagger turned up with "a cadre of muscle-bound bodyguards" for a private viewing of Bob Dylan's paintings at the Gagosian Gallery over the weekend. They were presumably there to keep him safe from fawning, unfamous undesirables, like Owen Wilson, Patti Smith, Michael Stipe, all of whom were also in attendance. [Page Six]
  • Second man on the moon Buzz Aldrin has found love with Michelle Sucillon, who at 51 is 30 years his junior. This is upsetting Aldrin's estranged third wife Lois Driggs Scannon, who calls Sucillon a "predator." She explains, "He’s been seeing her for about a year. There are women out here in Los Angeles that go after men, they go after celebrities. Women should leave married men alone.” Sources says Aldrin and Sucillon were spotted on the Acela train on Saturday "making out like teenagers." [Page Six]
