Senator: Rachel Maddow Looks Like Man

Usually, political attacks based on race, gender, or sexual orientation tend to be a serious no-no for public figures. Louisiana Senator David Vitter decided to throw conventional wisdom to the wind when he appeared on Rush Radio 99.5 in New Orleans this morning. The Washington Posts Greg Sargent reports that, during a casual back-and-forth about how they all looked in their glory days, "the hosts suggested Vitter should produce images of his youth, and one brought up Maddow's high school yearbook photo, which has been making the rounds on the Internet, joking that she looked 'like a woman' in the picture:'"

MALE HOST: I wonder if Senator Vitter is ever going to post, like, maybe the video of the first time he was on the floor of the Senate. If I have to show the way I looked the first time I was on TV, you should do that too.

VITTER: We should go further back than that, how about high school yearbook?

MALE HOST: Oh yeah.

VITTER: De La Salle marching band.

MALE HOST: That'd be cool. Well you know, with Rachel Maddow they had that picture of her...

FEMALE HOST: Looking like a woman.

MALE HOST: Yeah it was really bizarre.

VITTER: [LAUGHS]: Must have been a long time ago.

ALL THREE: [HEAVY LAUGHTER]

Quipped Sargent: "Hmm, I guess this means Maddow probably won't be the target of Vitter's extramarital charms anytime soon..."
