The Internet is all abuzz today over the release of several emails from now-defunct private email listserv JournoList, which many (mostly liberal) writers and bloggers used during the 2008 election. It seems that some of these writers discussed the idea of coordinating coverage of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal. Journalists are mostly mocking this story. And they're primarily doing it on--where else?--Twitter.
Will the press cover Journolist?
Needless to say, Andy's above question was answered fairly quickly by a twitter firestorm:
Terminally Limp Daily Caller Attacks Journolist (Again) and Spencer Ackerman http://fdl.me/djwfvG from @emptywheel
Therre is no mainstream media. There is no Journalism. It's just like the Ruling Class with cameras. pens & microphones. #journolist #rush
@karlrove The #Journolist story shld teach the #teaparty the term "racist" is used 2 distract & goad enemies in2 making mistakes. #tcot #sgp
That was a gross wrap from Chop't. If only I still had Journolist so I could DESTROY THEM.
I don't think I'm ever going to recover from the revelation that @attackerman occasionally dabbles in hyperbole.Internet, you have broken me.
So it turns out Spencer Ackerman has commanded the entire media from a volcano lair since 2008. Weird.
We would never know @attackerman or @chrislhayes thought these things w/out journolst leak. Unless, ofcourse, we read their work at the time
I have to think that an annotated JournoList archive is the stuff of bestsellers.
The clique in my HS had a name and talked about the rest of us amongst themselves. Didn't give a fuck. Why is Journolist such a big deal?
@Ydiot Journolist was dumb. I'm now not on any email lists. Cons calling for Jlist disclosure should leak their own emails. Do you agree?
By the end of the day, everything can be blamed on journolist:
Journolist is the reason that your eggs were runny this morning #journolistaconspiracysoimmense
Well, almost everything:
how I hate writing headlines.
