Glenn Beck: Communist?

Fox News rock star Glenn Beck delivered an enthralling performance at the close of CPAC, lambasting liberal Democrats and Republicans alike. A more surprising target, perhaps, were 20th century progressives. (Beck's opening words on stage were "I hate Woodrow Wilson more than anything.") Beck warned the crowd that progressive legislation like the income tax and universal health care are in fact communist.

Enter Jon Stewart, irked with Beck's explanation that he enlightened himself via his local library, where "books are free":

Glenn, the library isn't free! It's paid for with tax money. Free public libraries are the result of the Progressive movement to communally share books. The first public library was the Boston public library in 1854. It's statement of purpose: every citizen has the right to access community owned resources. Community owned? That sounds just like communist. You're a communist!
