This snapshot of Apple's App Store is a treasure trove of interesting nuggets for social media aficionados. Three figures that caught me first: (1) The number of apps since 2009 has increased by a factor of five, but the average price for a paid app has barely changed; (2) Although games account for 11 of the 20 most popular apps, gaming's share of the apps store has fallen more than any other category, from 24 to 15 percent; (3) Death of reading?
