From a financial perspective, I'd worry about marrying Newsweek and The Daily Beast, two media organizations firmly the red. But from an editorial perspective, I  can't think of a serious objection. Newsweek could probably use more sex, and The Daily Beast could probably use more news.

Speculation is swirling anew that Barry Diller is working on a plan to combine his IAC/InterActiveCorp-owned Daily Beast with the Newsweek digital operations.  Such a combination would give both Web operations some critical mass and clear the way for Daily Beast Chairwoman and Editor-in-Chief Tina Brown to oversee the operation as the new editor-in-chief of Newsweek.
