Elmore Leonard on the Big Screen

"Why did Hollywood have such difficulty capturing [Elmore] Leonard’s appeal for so long?" asks Christopher Orr in the January/February Atlantic. Some film adaptations are cringe-inducingly dramatic; others err in the direction of campy humor. Only a few manage to translate Leonard's signature blend of suspenseful action and dry wit.
