From the documentary series New Yorkers comes a short profile of a rookie contestant who entered the 2013 Miss New York USA pageant as "Miss Hell's Kitchen" and won. Moonshot Productions, the filmmakers behind the ongoing portrait series, interviewed Joanne Nosuchinsky on the set of a glamorous photo shoot to hear what it's like to be a newcomer to the world of beauty competitions. This short is just one of many about the diverse cast of characters that populate New York's boroughs, including a locksmith, a Shaolin monk, a gospel singer, a street pianist, and more.
