Reinventing the World's Missing Musical Instruments

By Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg

"Every music store serves its community," Jeff Slatnick says, "and people as for everything." He has sold musical instruments of all kinds at the Music Inn in Greenwich Village since the 1960s. When he sees something missing from his lineup, he builds it himself. This short documentary from Moonshot Productions' series New Yorkers goes inside Slatnick's basement workshop to see how he combines hundreds of years of tradition with a modern electrical edge.

New Yorkers is a celebration of the larger-than-life characters that populate the city, from a graffiti artist to an ice sculptor, and many more. The producers of the series discuss the project in an interview with the Atlantic Video channel here
