Meet Naomi Shelton, Gospel Queen of Brooklyn

By Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg

"It's soul music -- and that's what you mean by touching the souls of people, of all walks of life," Naomi Shelton says. The singer reflects on music, life, and love in this documentary portrait from the series New Yorkers. This short video will leave you wanting more -- unfortunately it doesn't include much extended performance footage -- but you can listen to more from the Gospel Queens of Brooklyn on their Myspace page and in the music video below.

New Yorkers is produced by Moonshot Productions, featuring a larger-than-life cast of characters including a Shaolin warrior monk, a graffiti artist, an ice sculptor and more. The producers of the series discuss the project in an interview with the Atlantic Video channel here
