Fauna: The Overwhelming Cuteness of Baby Sloths

By Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg

You might know Vice for their impeccable coverage of sex, drugs, and international hot spots, but their Cute Show is also extremely good at what it does. Their segment on the "junkies of the jungle," below, travels to a sanctuary for sloths in Costa Rica. Claire Trimer, a "baby sloth wrangler," explains that some babies have been orphaned and others simply abandoned. At the sanctuary, about 135 sloths get medical care and lots of love from volunteers. The segment was produced by Lucy Cooke, who is basically the Steven Spielberg of sloth filmmaking -- she also produced Too Cute! Baby Sloths for Animal Planet.
