Fauna: The Creepiness of Pets Makes for a Great Music Video

By Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg

Daniel Brereton's surreal video for Metronomy's "Hypnose" finds unexpected tension in the blank stares of ordinary house pets. To shoot the video, the production team simply visited fans' houses and filmed their animals. "The mysterious music was intended to offset the images of the pets to make them seem more disturbing than they usually are," Brereton writes on Vimeo. "Most of the time we didn't get what we wanted as it is difficult for pets to act but sometimes we would get really funny moments."
