A Model's-Eye View of New York Fashion Week via Google Glass

Diane von Furstenberg’s S/S 2013 collection, shown Sunday at New York Fashion Week, saw models, the stylists, and the designer herself outfitted in Google’s new technology — Project Glass. But while wearing the headgear (color-coordinated to match the model’s dresses nonetheless) was quite the statement in itself, the goal of the stunt was to cut a short behind-the-scenes video showing a very personal account of the show — from von Furstenberg musing on what fashion means while taping her good luck charm into her shoe, to literally stepping inside the models’ heels as they hit the runway.

From a film perspective, it’s exciting to see how Project Glass enables the collaborative or crowdsourced filmmaking process, along with doing wonders for developing the first-person narrative — much like gaming has already done.
