Stand Up Straight, or Else! An Archival Film Makes the Case for Good Posture

By Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg

Poor Adralene can't figure out why she's unpopular, slouching down into her chair at a party. "You're neither too fat nor too thin! Why, there's nothing wrong with the way you look," the narrator points out as Adralene examines herself in the mirror. Luckily, her reflection comes to the rescue, revealing how she really looks. "You listen to me for a change!" the bossy reflection rants, demonstrating her terrible posture. The film goes on to offer more advice than you ever wanted on the subject. This is just an excerpt from the 10-minute reel, which is available in its entirety at the Prelinger Archive
