A Stunning, Dreamlike Animation About Escaping Gravity

By Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg

In Gravity // Un Rêve de Demain, a young woman wakes up to find that she has become weightless, and floats through life until gravity inevitably catches up with her.

The film uses stop-motion animation to create the impression of flying through hundreds of photographs of the actress, Natalia Dufraisse, jumping. It's a common gimmick, but this surreal short animation is so much more than that, thanks to its beautiful cinematography and haunting imagery. The filmmaker, Filip Piskorzynski, explains that the pair shot the video over the course of seven days in Burkina Faso, Hamburg, and Brussels. The music is "Taste City" by Rone
