Late-Night Comedy Roundup: The Fake Farm Bill

Plus: Obama tries and fails to get us to care about climate change -- and more

In Barack Obama’s Tuesday speech on climate change, the president told Congress that he will act without them to combat rising temperatures. David Letterman watched the speech and was reminded of previous presidents speaking about the environment. This gave the Late Show host an opportunity to show a silly clip of George W. Bush. In his monologue, The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno found opportunity in referencing the speech to remind viewers of Obama’s second-term troubles.

On The Daily Show, host John Oliver spent some time on the recent problemsCongress had passing the farm bill. In referencing the bill’s provisions for SNAP money, Oliver wondered if Congress considered it a waste to give poor people money because of the end result of SNAP. He also compared Congress’ inaction to apopular fairy tale, only with a terrifying twist.

With news that he’s staying in Moscow, National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden continues to be a popular topic on late-night television. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel wondered about the quality of the Moscow airport food, while Leno questioned if Russian President Vladimir Putin would give Snowden to the United States. Snowden’s time at a Moscow airport also gave Conan O’Brien and Leno opportunity to go to a comedian’s best friend: A joke about terrible airline service.

Fast forward to 3:45 to see Kimmel show a new advertisment for the National Security Agency.
