This fascinating visualization, commissioned by the Planet Under Pressure conference, illustrates the age of human influence over the Earth's ecosystems known as the anthropocene. Since the industrial revolution, technological innovation has accelerated, the population has spiked, and the environment has felt the impact of this boom. Owen Gaffney and Félix Pharand-Deschênes, who created the video, drew on global data from NASA, NOAA, Greg's Cable Map, NaturalEarthData, and other sources, and used dramatic narration to advance the initiative's environmental message.
