Eye Candy for Coffee Snobs: Stumptown's Colombian Source

More

Stumptown Coffee Roasters, based in Portland, Oregon, is one those coffee companies that works to take it to the next level in every possible way (their website has seven different guides to brewing coffee). They describe their relationship with growers as "direct trade," and they've produced a documentary series to make the point: it's not just about the best-tasting coffee, it's about knowing where your coffee comes from. In this beautifully shot video from the Source Trip Films series, filmmaker Trevor Fife takes us to a community in Colombia where coffee is a family business and a way of life.

The team at Stumptown describes the making of the film:

The latest Stumptown source trip film features a select group of Colombian coffee producers from the southern departments of Huila and Cauca. Over the past five years Stumptown has built strong connections to these producers, making multiple trips each year to far reaches of the Andes Mountains to meet with regional producer associations, visit the farms, and work with producers to improve their coffee. In June 2011 a two-person film crew travelled with the green coffee buying team to visit these remarkable individuals, who graciously welcomed the camera into their homes and lives. This film focuses on the intense relationship between these growers, their communities, and their coffee.
