Cinderella Drives a Chevrolet

More

The classic fairy tale gets an all-American twist in this vintage animation: Cinderella's coach is a 1937 Chevrolet. When the evil witch curses her with a terrible storm on the way home from the ball, Cinderella speeds right through without batting an eyelash, while her stepsisters' coach is smashed to pieces. When she tells her prince she has no dowry, he answers, "But what more dowry could I wish for than you, my love -- and the coach!"

A Ride for Cinderella was produced by the Jam Handy Organization, a production company that made dozens of promotional films for General Motors in that era. It's also the sequel to the 1936 film, A Coach for Cinderella, in which friendly dwarfs build her the magical automotive "coach." Both are interesting precursors to what we call "branded content" today.
